The cutest little Clown

I was a clown for pretty much every Halloween I can remember as a child. Every year, I have high hopes that either Violet or Lucy will follow my lead and dress up as a clown, but they always insist on dressing up as something prettier and fancier, like a princess - usually a Disney princess (gag). This year, I successfully convinced Violet to dress up as a clown. Yay! And she was the cutest dang clown I ever did see. It was pretty last minute. All we did was put on a pair of footed, polka-dot pajamas, a ruffly little collar that I sewed up with some scraps of fabric, and a wig that we had in our dress up box. I'm sure if I had more time I could have added some more details, like maybe white face make-up and a big bow-tie, but she didn't even need it. She looked great, and soaked up the opportunity to pull silly faces all day long.

My favorite Swear

Whoever (whomever?) invented control top panty hose in an asshole. Do you boys know how uncomfortable these things are? I am wearing them today, as part of my Minnie Mouse Halloween costume...and I accidentally bought control top (which, by the way, I don't even need, thanks to my $6,000 tummy)

Also, I love the word asshole. I know, its not nice to swear, but asshole is just such a perfect swear. I especially love using it in unexpected ways, like when I call my cute little 4 lb dog an asshole, or my teenage niece (not to her face, or course).

Does this post make me sound like an asshole?

Sewing 101

Today I have been teaching Lucy how to sew. She is loving it. I think Lucy has a good sense of style. She loves mixing fabrics and patterns together when she dresses herself, and now she is loving putting together fabrics to sew. So far we've just been making some little pins to put on jackets, sweaters, shirts, etc. This is a picture of her first one:

And one she made for me.....

Really my Very most Adorably Amazing post ever. Really.

Its obvious from reading my blog, that I never went to college. (technically, I did take a few math classes, and a photography class - and aced them all) I get a little depressed when I read other people's blogs and they can write so well. I feel like my arsenal of words is a small one. One that is unprepared to write anything interesting or powerful. One that lacks the know-how to move people, to get my point across, to make you feel what I am feeling. I've noticed that I have a few words and phrases that are very over used. Like, if I REALLY feel strongly about something, I'll add a "very" or "Really" in front of my descriptive word (maybe even two!), which is more than likely going to be "adorable" or "amazing".

amazing
adorable
So amazing
So adorable
So SO amazing
So SO adorable
very
very very
Really Really REALLY

I write in my journal in bed at night, after I have taken an ambien. I've learned not to blog while on ambien - but my journal is read by a few less eyes. (Only mine, I think, unless Jacob sneaks and reads it) So writing crazy drug induced things in my journal is safe. I really like the way I write when on ambien. I'm more free. I am more honest. I am really very very funny. In fact ambien changes my whole personality. (Just ask Jacob - I am a kinder gentler wife after I've taken an ambien. Sluttier too). I need to tap into that drug induced state in my waking hours.

So I don't know if this post is about how I wish I could write better, or how I, admittedly, love ambien. I guess, both.

Go Ahead, Buy Something

You have my permission. I just found this beautiful little on-line store today.

I love the little vintage earrings and necklaces. And bobby pins. Click on accessories and find yourself something you love. Everything is very affordable and sure to bring you joy! I just filled my basket up with a bunch of stuff, and it all came to less than $50. (of course, I didn't actually buy anything....just filled up my basket. I like to trick myself like that. Makes me kinda get the shopping high without actually spending money) I think I might actually make the purchase though. I deserve it, right?

What to do...

What do you do when your 4 year old wants to wear this to school?

Photobucket

I just let her. My kids usually dress themselves, with some subliminal and manipulative input from me. This morning, Violet didn't fall for it, and insisted that she pick out her own clothes. I told her this morning that she should choose something else because her outfit didn't match. She confidently informed me that it doesn't "match" but it "goes". Oh well. She looks cute even if her outfit is a little crazy. At least for now, at age 4, I'm only dealing with mismatched clothes, and not pants that show off her butt crack, and shirts that show her belly button. I'm not looking forward to those years.

Also, it could be worse. This is what Lucy put on one of the first time she chose her own outfit.

Baking makes you a good mom

Yesterday I made these

and These:

The bread-sticks were awesome, and were not difficult at all. My girls helped me to roll and twist them into bread-sticks. These just might make it into the weekly menu. The pumpkin pies were good - but not amazing, and more work than they were worth.

Today I am made these:

It is the same dough recipe as the bread-sticks - just with some ham and cheese rolled into the middle. The girls helped me with these ones too - putting the ham and cheese on the dough and rolling them up. They turned out really yummy. I'm thinking of a million different ways to make this recipe - like, what if I filled them with a sloppy joe mixture? Or scrambled eggs, ham and cheese? Is it weird that I'm getting excited about this? I love baking this time of year - the cool weather brings it out in me. Plus, something about baking bread makes me feel like a good mom.
